St. Charles Police Blotter: Theft Arrest, DUIs, Vehicle Break-in

SUNDAY, DEC. 22, 2013


Retail Theft Arrest


Rosendro Acosta-Lara, 42, of the 300 block of Fremont Street, West Chicago, was charged at 8:14 p.m. at Walmart, 150 Smith Road, with retail theft after he reportedly left the store without paying for a music CD and some condoms. The total valued of the merchandize was $7.94. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Feb. 19, 2014 appearance in Kane County Branch Court.


Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol


Dariusz Gorski, 48, of the 2000 block of 19th Street, Melrose Park, was charged at 7:31 p.m. on the 1500 block of East Main Street with driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police responded to an accident in which Gorksi’s vehicle had rear-ended another vehicle that had stopped for a red light. Gorski posted his driver’s license and $100 cash bond and a $50 booking fee and was released pending a court appearance.

DUI


Matthew J. Keen, 24, of the 41W600 block of Wayne Drive, St. Charles, was charged at 12:13 a.m. on the 3400 block of West Main Street with DUI, and improper lane use. He posted his driver’s license and $100 cash bond and was released pending a Jan. 22, 2014 Kane County Court appearance.

Vehicle Burglary


Police responded at 9:37 a.m. to a public parking lot at 3rd and Cedar streets to a report of a vehicle burglary. The victim told officers the break-in had occurred since she parked the  vehicle there at 5 p.m. Dec. 20. She told police it was locked when she left. A Coach handbag valued at $300 and a $100 GPS unit were reported stolen, as were three different prescription medicines that had been left inside the vehicle.


Resisting a Peace Officer


Darpesh S. Patel, 23, of the 200 block of Hill Avenue, Bartlett, was charged after a 1:11 a.m. report of a disturbance outside The Alibi Bar & Grill, 12 N. 3rd St., with resisting a peace officer. An officer apprehended Patel when he reportedly fled after officers had initiated an investigation into a disturbance at the bar. An approaching officer took Patel into custody as he fled, the report states. He did not post bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail, where he was held pending a court appearance.

Public Drunkenness


Joseph G. Graves, 27, of the 2N400 block of Landrose Lane, Maple Park, was cited at 11:41 p.m. on the 300 block of Cedar Street with disorderly conduct-public drunkenness.


Identity Theft


A resident reported she has been the victim of an ongoing identity theft since July, during which several companies have been accessing her her checking account to make monthly automatic withdrawals ranging from almost $37 to nearly $40 a month. Her bank learned that her checking account number had been compromised. The bank closed her account and opened a new one, and she has been working with the companies making the automatic withdrawals to reimburse her.

Theft, Less than $500


An Aurora man reported to St. Charles police at 8:41 a.m. that someone stole his iPhone while he was at a warehouse at 3890 Swenson Ave., St. Charles.
