The St. Charles Police Department made three drunken driving arrests, issued 18 safety belt citations, issued 36 traffic citations and issued 40 warnings during a two-week enforcement period ending Jan. 5, 2014.
Done in conjunction with a traffic safety campaign and with the cooperation and funding of the Illinois Department of Transportation, the enforcement effort also netted 40 warnings for various traffic offenses, according to a St. Charles Police Department release.
According to the release, the citations included:
18 for safety belts violations
One for driving with a suspended/revoked license,
Three for no insurance,
10 for speeding,
Four for other violations.
The release states that the initiative is part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic fatalities. The St. Charles Police Department asks motorists to drive carefully and help remove impaired drivers from our streets.
