Loud pipes leads to DUI stop

Judd Jay Nilles, 42, 6N772 Tuscola Ave., St. Charles, was arrested on Sept. 11 for drunken driving, according to a report. An officer had been walking in the 400 block of East Main Street when he heard a silver Ford Mustang Shelby, driven by Nilles, revving his engine loudly. The officer had warned Nilles of his “apparent need to rattle the windows” of businesses and homes downtown with his exhaust. When the officer returned to his car and caught up with Nilles, he noticed the car did not have a visible license plate and performed a traffic stop. During the stop, the officer noticed a smell of alcohol. When asked, Nilles allegedly told the officer he had been drinking. Tests for sobriety were performed, after which Nilles was arrested and booked. He was charged with two counts of DUI and was cited for not having a license plate displayed properly.
