Super Bowl Sunday Patrol Results in 5 DUI Arrests

Another no-refusal weekend is planned in March.

A DUI enforcement operation conducted during Super Bowl Sunday and involving 11 Kane County communities netted five arrests, officials announced Tuesday.

St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia, along with Illinois State Police, the Kane County Sheriff's Office and eight other departments, participated in the enforcement period.

“Our first objective is safety and deterrence,” said Joe McMahon in a news release. “In advance of what is a big day to party and celebrate, we spread the word that there would be heightened DUI enforcement. Many of the participating police agencies even enhanced beyond that with extra patrols and some roadside safety checks."
