Traffic Detour for Friday's St. Charles North Homecoming Parade

St. Charles North Homecoming Parade is planned for 1 p.m. Sept. 23 on Illinois Street.

The Homecoming Parade is planned for 1 p.m. Sept. 23 on Illinois Street in downtown St. Charles.

The parade will begin at Illinois and South 6th streets and continue east to 2nd Avenue. Due to the parade, Illinois Street will be closed from 7th Street on the west side of the river to 3rd Avenue on the east side of the river from 12:45 to about 1:45 p.m. and 2nd Street (Route 31) will be closed for a short period of time as the parade crosses it when traveling eastbound.

A detour route—like the one for the —will be posted directing motorists to use West Main, 7th and Prairie street. Trucks using Route 31 will be detoured to Randall Road.

Parking restrictions will be in place along the parade and detour routes, including along South 6th Street between Main and Indiana streets, along South 2nd and 3rd avenues and along Walnut Street between 7th and 5th streets.

Traffic assistance will be provided by the and Emergency Management personnel at key intersections. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes because of potentially lengthy traffic delays.
