VIDEO: St. Charles Police Chief Stakes Out Rooftop for Special Olympics

Police Chief Jim Lamkin was among hundreds of police officers who spent hours on the roofs of Dunkin' Donuts across the Chicago suburbs Friday.

Hundreds of police officers from all over the Chicago area joined efforts to raise money for Special Olympics Friday. From 5 a.m. to around 2 p.m., police climbed up to the rooftops of Dunkin' Donuts in their communities and spent hours there.

St. Charles Police Chief Jim Lamkin said he was happy to spend a few hours on the roof of the St. Charles Dunkin' Donuts on Main Street in order to help a good cause.

"What I really appreciate about the special olympics is that we're able to really provide a benefit to some kids with special needs," said Lamkin.

The annual "cop on top" fundraiser raises money for Special Olympics in Illinois. Last year, 111 locations across the Chicago area took part in the event, raising $207,000.
