Women Allegedly Hid $176 Worth of Meijer Cosmetic Items in Handbag

Here's an item from the St. Charles police blotter.

Police arrested an Elburn woman on Friday, Dec. 3, for retail theft after she allegedly hid more than $176 in cosmetic items taken from Meijer in her handbag.

Betsy Lauren Manak, 18, of 1S760 Green Rd., was charged after she was allegedly found hiding the items by a store loss prevention officer, according to the police report. She also reportedly paid for about $16 worth of grocery items while she allegedly had the other items concealed in her bag.

Among the items Manak is alleged to have taken include fish oil tablets, toothpaste, body wash and shampoo.
