What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?

To continue the recognition of the District as one of the financially healthiest budgets of all local, state and even national taxing bodies. The District continues to receive high marks in regard to the operating budget as reflected in the receipt of its stellar municipal bond rating. Maintaining a fiscally sound District, gives the District flexibility in both serving the needs of the residents and being able to take advantage of opportunities which arise and are supported by the people of the District.

Why Are You Seeking Office?

I am seeking relection to office to continue give my assistance in guiding the St. Charles Park District in being responsive to the active and passive recreation needs of all residents in a fiscally responsible manner. As a Board Member for the past eight years, four of which was spent as Vice-President and as current sitting President of the Board, I have had the privilege of serving this District and am committed again to giving my time and experience to the forward progress and success of the District.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

My experience in two areas sets me apart. First, as highlighted earlier my two prior terms in serving the successful and nationally recognized District. Secondly, my professional experience as a local transactional attorney and partner in a larger Kane County law firm has allowed me to give insight and share knowledge on many fronts, including land acquisition and development, operation of a service business, budgeting and management of personnel.

Issue 1: What steps will you take to ensure the Park District keeps its spending within budget?

In continuing to meet the growing demands of a very diverse group of citizens it is important to always continue to seek out means by which to "stretch the dollar". At every juncture, the District has, and will continue to, explore all possibilities intergovernmental partnerships, public/private partnerships, along with the pursuit of available grants, donations and sponsorships. The leveraging of dollars and resources where appropriate will continue to allow the District to bring more to the taxpayers without increasing the financial burden on them.
