Agenda for Tonight's Government Services Committee Meeting

Committee members will discuss potential changes to city liquor ordinances.

The Government Operations Committee will discuss amending the city's alcohol ordinance.

the operations committee delayed voting on the proposed amendments, which include a change to the fee structure, ending the additional hour of service on New Year’s Eve that allows alcohol service until 3 a.m., prohibiting operation of a teen club in an establishment that serves alcohol and authorization of the sale of alcohol for consumption of off-site consumption.

Telling the committee that St. Charles has a "problem with bars," resident David Amundson plead with officials to enact meaningful reforms to the ordinance.

Officials will also discuss ways to fight the emerald ash borer that is infecting trees on private property and will discuss a $500,000 contract withSkyline Tree Service for the removal of infected trees.

About 4,000 ash trees are currently found in St. Charles parkways, with another 10,000 to 15,000 on private property. To combat the spread, the City has removed nearly 1,500 affected ash trees and applied preventive treatment to about 500 trees.
