Calling All Young Stars of the Stage and More: 5 Things You Should Know for Monday, Aug. 15

A casting call is underway for area youth actors at . Its next musical will be a fun look at music and dance from the 1950s.

1. The St. Charles will host a dance clinic through Aug. 18 at . Cost is $75 per participant and each dancer receives a T-shirt.

The routines learned during the clinic will be performed at the St. Charles North Black and Blue game on Aug. 19.

2. Actors and singers ages 10 to 19 are asked to audition from 3 to 5 p.m. for Fox Valley Repertory's youth musical, . Auditions will take place on the Preservation Hall Studio Stage at Pheasant Run Resort.

Interested children should prepare and memorize a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song that best displays their talent. An accompanist will be provided and children should bring sheet music. 

3. The St. Charles City Council meets at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at the . The meeting agenda can generally be found the Friday before each session.

4. The Learning and Teaching Committee of District 303 meets at 5 p.m. in the district's . Residents' comments will be accepted at the beginning of the meeting.

Topics surrounding Davis and Richmond schools are the agenda for updates. Third grade social studies textbooks also are scheduled for discussion.
