Cops, Wings and More: 5 Things You Should Know for Monday, Aug. 29

Plus, free yoga classes with pet food or cash donations.

Bridges Montessori is opening its doors to prospective and returning students with an open house today. 

Also, you can donate to Special Olympics Illinois by letting a St. Charles police officer wait on you at an area restaurant. 

Here are five things going on today:

1. Three for routine repair. The lots located on North Third Avenue between Cedar and State avenues, the north side of Walnut Street between Third and Fourth streets, and along Second and Walnut avenues, behind , will reopen tomorrow. 

2. for new and returning students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both St. Charles locations. 's 716 Oak St. location offers a multi-level guided curriculum for children in preschool through kindergarten. Students are taught in an environment designed to nurture concentration, coordination, order and independence.

The elementary level program at teaches students in first through fifth grade. The individual needs of each student are met by using differentiated instruction in a set curriculum that helps in the child's development.

3.  through Sept. 4. in exchange for donations of pet food or cash benefiting in South Elgin. A variety of classes for all skill levels are being offered and those donating pet food or money can attend as many classes as they wish.

4. officers will be waiting tables during at Buffalo Wild Wings in Geneva. Customers can present coupons that will dedicate 10 percent of proceeds from their orders to Special Olympics Illinois. The coupons will be available at the door the night of the event.

Raffle tickets also will be available for $10 each with prizes including a 2011 Harley-Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic motorcycle and five HD televisions. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Illinois

5.  Matt Rodewald, NBC 5 Chicago morning TV news team traffic reporter, will emcee the the today. The outing will begin with registration and buffet lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
