Council Approves St. Charles Liquor Control Commission Appointments

Mayor Raymond Rogina's appointees get a thumbs up from aldermen.

The St. Charles City Council voted unanimously Monday night to ratify Mayor Raymond Rogina appointment of two aldermen and two residents to the new St. Charles Liquor Control Commission.

Rogina, who by law serves as the city’s liquor commissioner, will chair the panel whose members include his appointees — Ward 2 Alderman Rita Anne Payleitner, Ward 5 Alderman Maureen Lewis, Charles A. Amenta II, and Robert Gehm. The City Council voted July 1 to create the commission, which as envisioned by the council, will act in an advisory role. The panel will review liquor license applications, conduct disciplinary hearings and make recommendations to Rogina and the City Council on those matters.

The council vote was 8-0, with Alderwoman Payleitner and Lewis abstained.
