District 303 Portion of Tax Bill to Rise 2.5%

St. Charles Board of Education moves to raise tax levy for 2013.

A 2.5 percent increase in the school district’s portion of your property tax bill is on the way for the average St. Charles homeowner, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

On Monday night, St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 Board of Education approved its 2013 tax levy, an aggregate of $161,253,257, the Chronicle said.

District 303 Chief Financial Officer Seth Chapman explained to the board that the levy would mean an increase of about by 2.5 percent for the average homeowner.

Also approved by the board is a $1.8 million debt service levy abatement for 2013.
