City of St. Charles First Comprehensive Plan Workshop Aug. 31

The City of St. Charles is holding the first of a series of workshops to help shape the City’s new Comprehensive Plan on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 2 E. Main Street, St. Charles. Members of the community are encouraged to participate. Your input will assist the City in preparing a plan to guide the future growth and development of St. Charles.

The Comprehensive Plan serves as the City’s official guide for land use, physical improvement and development. It provides a foundation for decision-making based on community consensus, existing conditions and future opportunities. The Plan serves as a “road map” for the next 10 to 15 years for guiding policy decisions and helping the community achieve its long-term objectives.

This workshop is the first of many face-to-face events scheduled throughout the planning process and allows citizens to provide input before any plans or recommendations are made. Information received at this meeting will set the foundation for the Plan. At the workshop, residents will have the opportunity to:

  • Review the purpose of the Comprehensive Plan, the planning process and the schedule
  • Offer their views on issues and opportunities

 

The Comprehensive Plan will address many topics, including land use and development, transportation and circulation, community facilities, annexation and growth areas, environmental features and open space, infrastructure, sustainability, and community image and character. The Plan also will provide a more detailed strategy for several key areas of the City, including Downtown, Main Street, the East Gateway/Kirk Road Corridor as well as the West Gateway/Randall Road Corridor.
