Fewer Than a Dozen Votes Separate Winners and Losers in Alderman Races

Meanwhile, Rogina clears 68 percent of the vote in the unofficial numbers.

Aside from the  in Ward 5, two other races for alderman seats in St. Charles were left with close (and unofficial) results.

In Ward 2, edged slightly over opponent Arthur Lemke. Payleitner grabbed a total of 282 votes between the counties—just six more than Lemke’s total of 276.

Meanwhile, Ward 4 incumbent ’s apparent edge over challenger Steven Gaugel comes with just an 11-vote buffer.

Weak voting might have been a factor in the close races. Both saw voter turnout in the 13-percent range. According to some reports, turnout in Kane County also was around 13 percent.

As for the more decisive (yet still unofficial) races, cleared about 68 percent of the vote for the Ward 3 seat against opponents Vanessa A. Bell-LaSota and Lars Michael Henriksen, who earned about 20 and 10 percent of the vote, respectively. Incumbents Daniel P. Stellato of Ward 1 and Ed Bessner of the second Ward 5 seat will retain their places on the St. Charles City Council.
