Lottery Set Ballot Slots in St. Charles City Council Races

Important Filing Dates for the 2013 Consolidated Election.

City officials have scheduled a lottery for 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, because of the simultaneous filings of election papers by candidates on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.

The lottery will be held to determine the candidate position on the ballot for the April 9 Consolidated Election, according to a release from St. Charles City Hall.

The lottery, the release states, pertains to the St. Charles mayoral race, in which three of the four announced candidates have filed, as well as for the 2nd Ward and 5th Ward races.

The release identifies the mayoral candidates who filed Monday as John E. Rabchuk, 3rd Ward Alderman Raymond P. Rogina and Jotham S. Stein.

The other candidate who has announced he is running for mayor is Jake Wyatt.

In Ward 2, Alderman Clifford X. Carrignan and Arthur J. Lemke both filed Monday. And in Ward 5, Alderwoman Maureen Lewis and Kimberly A. Malay both filed their election papers, the release states.

The deadline to file candidate petitions for the 2013 Consolidated Election is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, in the City Administrator’s Office, 2 E. Main St.

The last day for filing objections is five business days from Dec. 26, which is Jan. 3, 2013.
