Mayor Names Four to St. Charles Liquor Commission

Rogina names City Council members Rita Anne Payleitner and Maureen Lewis, and residents Charles A. Amenta II and Robert Gehm as nominees.

St. Charles Mayor Raymond Rogina, as promised, announced Monday afternoon his nominees to the new Liquor Control Commission.

Rogina, who by law serves as the city’s liquor commissioner, will chair the panel whose members will include — pending City Council ratification — Ward 2 Alderman Rita Anne Payleitner, Ward 5 Alderman Maureen Lewis, Charles A. Amenta II, and Robert Gehm.

The City Council on July 1 approved the creation of the St. Charles Liquor Control Commission. As envisioned by the council, the panel will act in an advisory capacity, reviewing liquor license applications and conducting disciplinary hearings and then making recommendations to Rogina and the City Council.

According to a release from the city, Amenta is a six-year resident of St. Charles and is a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual. He also serves on the Reneaux Manor Homeowners Association Board.

Gehm is a 23-year St. Charles resident with more than 30 years of business experience in accounting, finance, and project management. He has served and volunteered with several local organizations, the release states.

“The creation of the local Liquor Control Commission puts a solid process in place to regulate liquor-related issues in St. Charles,” Rogina said. “Both resident nominees will bring useful talents to the commission, and I am grateful to them for agreeing to invest their time and effort to further improve our community.”

The release states that the nominations will go before the City Council at its formal meeting July 15.
