Red Gate Bridge Construction Temporarily Closes Forest Preserve

Construction fencing is being placed near areas where work is being completed on the west side of the Fox River.

The southern half of the Fox River Bluff West Forest Preserve along Route 31 in St. Charles is temporarily closed for the construction project.

Contractors for the have started to place temporary construction fencing near areas in the preserve where work is being completed on the west side of the Fox River, according to a press release from the Kane County Forest Preserve District.

Ground was broken earlier this month on the project will extend across the Fox River and connect Red Gate Road on the west side with Route 25 on the east.

After the fencing is in place, road clearing and grading crews and equipment will begin work on the roadbed construction.

The preserve, one of the forest preserve district’s off-leash dog areas, and is heavily used. The north end of the preserve is expected to remain open throughout construction.
