Residents Invited to Attend Aug. 31 Workshop for St. Charles New Comprehensive Plan

City officials are seeking input on the plan that will guide the city's growth and development for the next 10 to 15 years.

The City of St. Charles is hosting the first in a series of workshops at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 designed to help shape the City’s new Comprehensive Plan.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting, which will be at City Council Chambers at the City of St. Charles 2 E. Main St. Input will assist city officials in preparing a plan to guide the city’s growth and development, according to a press release from the City of St. Charles.

The Comprehensive Plan will serve as the official guide for land use, physical improvement and development within St. Charles for the next 10 to 15 years. It also is a foundation for policy decisions based on community consensus, existing conditions and opportunities for St. Charles to achieve long-term objectives.

During the workshop, residents will be able to review the purpose of the Comprehensive Plan, the planning process and the schedule as well as offer views on issues and opportunities.

Other in-person workshops will be scheduled during the planning process to enable residents to provide input before approval of plans or recommendations. The Comprehensive Plan will address many topics, including land use and development, transportation and circulation, community facilities, annexation and growth areas, environmental features and open space, infrastructure, sustainability, and community image and character.

The Plan also will provide a detailed strategy for several key areas of St. Charles, including , Main Street, the East Gateway/Kirk Road Corridor, as well as the West Gateway/Randall Road Corridor.
