St. Charles Park District Executive Director To Retire

Ray Ochromowicz to work through August, St. Charles Park District announces. 

St. Charles Park District Executive Director Ray Ochromowicz announced at Tuesday evening’s Park Board meeting that he will retire from the district effective Aug. 31, 2013.

“I will be fully vested in my pension by August and have decided to explore other opportunities,” Ochromowicz said in a park district release issued Wednesday.

“Ray has guided the Park District with fiscal responsibility and enabled the Park District to compete as a finalist for the National Gold Medal Award,” Park Board President Karrsten Goettel said in the release. “We wish Ray all the best in his retirement.”

Goettel said by phone Wednesday afternoon that Ochromowicz actually had given the park board advance notice of his intent to retire within the past two weeks. The seven-member park board had to consider contractual issues related to Ochromowicz’s retirement when it considered the matter.

According to the park district release, Ochromowicz became executive director in January 2011. During his tenure, he has supervised the construction of , and . He also oversaw the renovation of the historic Swanson Pool at Pottawatomie Park, and development of River Bend Community Park in Valley View.

Previously, Ochromowicz was employed as executive director of the Park Ridge and Bolingbrook park districts.
