St. Charles Slates Brush and Yard Waste Pickup, Hydrant Flushing

If you're in the mood for spring cleaning, the city of St. Charles is ready to oblige. Hydrant testing also is slated to begin.

It may not feel like it — yet, but spring is here and the city of St. Charles is gearing up for three programs that annually signal the anticipated arrival of warm weather.

Yard Waste Collection Resumes April 1:

The city’s contractor, Advanced Disposal (formerly Veolia), resumes yard waste collection on Monday, April 1, 2013, and will be done on residents’ regularly scheduled refuse days through Nov. 27, 2013.

Brush Pickup Resumes:

Residents who pay an additional monthly fee on their utility bill can participate in the brush pickup program, which resumes April 15 for eligible East Side residents and April 22 for those on the West Side. Hydrant Flushing Schedule:

City crews will begin flushing the water main distribution system in the coming weeks. over the next few weeks.  The flushing is done to remove accumulations of iron inside the water mains. The flushing may cause rusty-colored water during the procedure.
