Task Force Will Examine Ward Redistricting in St. Charles

Three aldermen appointed will make a recommendation to the full City Council.

A newly-created task force will look at the possible redistricting of the municipal wards in the wake of the recent census.

The City Council unanimously approved the creation of the task force, composed of aldermen Jim Martin, Cliff Carrignan and Bill Turner, Monday night.

The city is required to complete a review because of the 2010 census results, said Mayor Don DeWitte.

Working with city staff and attorneys, the task force will “make any changes required to balance population," he said.

“The task force will prepare the recommendation to the full council with respect to new, or potentially new, ward boundaries,” DeWitte said.
