Thirsty Fox Pub to Pay $1,000 for Liquor Violation

Downtown St. Charles bar is fined $500, to pay $500 in costs after serving two underage women during liquor code compliance check.

The Thirsty Fox, 104 E. Main St., which was cited Oct. 18, 2013, for serving alcohol to two underage women, must pay a $500 and $500 in costs for the violation, according to a release the city issued Tuesday.


Mayor Raymond Rogina, who by law also serves as the city’s liquor control commissioner, determined during a Nov. 18 St. Charles Liquor Control Commission meeting that The Thirsty Fox had been in violation of local liquor ordinances.


Owners Edward and Samantha Stone said as much during the hearing, where the acknowledged the violations had occurred during a “perfect storm” of activity at their establishment. The couple also apologized to the city for the violation.

“The penalty supports the City’s desire to promote a safe environment for all in downtown St. Charles,” Rogina said in the release.


About 10:23 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2013, two young women who were working with the St. Charles Police Department during a liquor code compliance check, went into the bar and purchased alcoholic beverages. They were not carded, and both were served but did not drink the beverages.
