Will You Be Prepared for the Next Disaster?

September is National Preparedness Month, so the Kane County Office of Emergency Management is asking residents and businesses to remember to prepare for emergencies by creating a plan, becoming prepared and staying informed about potential hazards within our communities.

National Preparedness Month is a nationwide effort to increase public awareness and serves as a reminder that we all have a responsibility to protect ourselves, our families and our communities.

"National Preparedness Month creates an opportunity for everyone to learn more about ways to prepare for all types of emergencies," said Don Bryant, director of the Kane County Office of Emergency Management. "Emergency preparedness is everyone’s responsibility and family preparedness should be a priority in every community. With the April floods fresh in our minds we can take a few simple steps to make our communities more resilient by creating a family emergency supply kit, making a family disaster plan and staying informed."
