Art Group Reveals New St. Charles High School Mosaic

The Riverscape mosaic project began two years ago.

A newly installed mosaic, titled Riverscape, was unveiled last week at .

The work of art is part of a P-ARTS (People for the Arts) program developed for the Downtown St. Charles Partnership's St. Charles Fine Art Show.

The program's goal is to partner with District 303 schools "to give students the chance to create art (which is then installed in their schools) and to showcase the Fine Art Shows' "Living Artists" programming," according to project supporters.

The P-ARTS plan for the mosaic, for which a ceremony was held on Nov. 2, has been two years in the making. Artist Laura Rendlen executed the project from May through September.

Before this, Rendlen was involved in another project related to East. She helped create a student "Living Mosaic" project, which was dedicated to retiring art teacher of 30 years, Becky Blaine.
