D303 Considering Discarding Physics Honors

Move would align the district with the College Board's changes to AP Physics programs.

Physics honors may not be a choice for St. Charles North and East high school students next year, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The change comes as St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 prepares for changes to the Advanced Placement program, according to the Tribune.

The Tribune story states that board of education members received a proposal by district staff on Monday during a meeting of the Learning and Teaching Committee. The plan would end the Physics Honors classes at the two high schools to align with the College Board’s decision to replace AP Physics B with two year-long courses: AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2.
