District 303 School Lunch Prices Up a Dime

Increase is a requirement of federal law linking school lunch prices with costs of the federal free and reduced lunch program.

For the first time in four years, is raising the price of its school lunches by a dime.

According to a school district release, the increase coincides with the federal Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010’s requirement that school districts maintain their paid school lunch prices on an equitable level with the free and reduced lunch reimbursements from the federal National Food Service Program.

Prices for the 2012-13 school year will be as follows:

  • High school — $2.60
  • Middle school — $2.40
  • Elementary school — $2.30
