With the first day of school less than a week away, educators at Wasco Elementary School in rural Wasco, at Fox Ridge Elementary School in St. Charles and Norton Creek Elementary School in West Chicago are sending reminders to parents to complete those last-minute registration requirements and information about what to expect when classes begin.
The first day of classes in St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 is Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, and in this final week, schools are reaching out to families to make sure everyone’s prepared.
Wasco Elementary School Principal Barbara Stokke on Thursday sent out a welcome email to students’ families with with a last-minute check list of things to do in preparation, as well as a roundup of what to expect in the coming days and weeks.
“Hooray, only five days away! The start of the school year is near, let's cheer!” Stokke wrote.
She urged parents to:
- Complete the registration process — submitting forms, medical records and registration fees if not yet completed.
- School supply drop-off dates/times (K-2 only)
- Kindergarten — Monday, Aug. 20, 4 to 5 p.m.
- 1st grade — Monday, Aug. 20, 1 to 2 p.m.
- 2nd grade — Monday, Aug. 20, 1 to 2 p.m.
On the first day of school, all teachers will be outside on the blacktop to meet and greet the students. This is a great photo opportunity and chance to meet the teachers. Please arrive no earlier than 8:20 a.m. — the school day begins at 8:40.
Look for the email from Barb Stokke for even more information about the start of classes as Wasco. Also, check the Wasco PDF attachments to this story, which the school emailed to families recently.
At Norton Creek Elementary, the school has slated an open house from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, to allow students and their parents to see the school, drop off supplies, see the children’s classrooms and meet their teachers.
More information about Norton Creek is attached to this story as PDFs, which were emailed to school families this week.
