UPDATE: St. Charles North Ready for Friday Homecoming

Parade, game and dance all fall on Friday as the North Stars meet the Royals.

A week of activities that actually began at the start of Scarecrow Fest culminates with Friday’s parade, football game against Elgin’s Larkin High School.

The North Stars’ theme for homecoming this year is “Childhood Stories,” and float construction was allowed to gt started Friday afternoon, Oct. 5, the same day Scarecrow Fest welcome visitors to St. Charles. Saturday, the students were able to decorate the walls and display cases at North High.

Of course float building was allowed to continue on each day of that four-day weekend (Friday was a school improvement day, meaning no classes for students, and Monday was Columbus Day, a federal holiday).

Wednesday was “America Day” at North. There was more voting for royalty, more Penny Wars and a co-ed volleyball game was scheduled last night in the school’s main gym.

Friday is “School Spirit Day,” as well as the final day of king/queen voting and Penny Wars and, of course, the week’s culmination. The North High School homecoming parade, which steps off at 1 p.m., will march through downtown St. Charles, ending about 2 p.m. North hosts the Larkin Royals from 4 to 7 p.m. The homecoming dance is Saturday evening in the school’s main gym.

St. Charles Patch plans to be there Saturday to cover the parade AND, as always, will invited readers to add their own photos to the gallery to commemorate the day and the the fun the students had all week.

CORRECTION: The homecoming game and parade are on Friday, not Saturday as earlier reported. Patch was working off an outdated schedule.
