New Retailer Opens in Downtown St. Charles

There’s a new retailer downtown, and that means one more choice for those who heed the message Mayor Raymond Rogina touts during St. Charles City Council meetings: Buy local.

One of a Kind Find, 228 W. Main St., brings a collection of jewelry, art, furniture, and home décor offerings to downtown St. Charles.

Owners Jean Walsh & Nikki Kozielec, both of St. Charles, have planned a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, according to a release from the Downtown St. Charles Partnership. The special day will include a sale for 25 percent off, raffle, hot refreshments and “a bargain basement opening.”

Walsh and Kozielec take joy in finding new uses for — or repurposing items. The Downtown St. Charles Partnership release describes their work as giving “new life to furniture, jewelry, and articles of clothing.”

The duo hopes their repurposing efforts will keep items out of landfills. The release points out that an artist created one purse on display from a previously worn women's vest. The store’s offerings include up-cycle, renewed, and re-treasured finds, the release states.
