Kick-A-Thon Fundraising Kicks Off

Breakfast signals start of the fundraising effort for the St. Charles high school drills teams.

Some breakfast, a few speakers and plenty of inspiration—that's what opened the 2011 fundraising effort for those participating in this year's .

Put on annually by both St. Charles high schools' drill team, the Kick-A-Thon raises money for the Fox Valley Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva

Kari Batka, director of the Kick-A-Thon advisory board, said the encouragement and stories of those affected by cancer told by speakers at the event remind the team why they are doing the fundraiser.
