St. Charles East Grad Named WIAC All-Conference Athlete

Robert Shone plays soccer for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he is a junior finance major.

Robert Shone, a junior finance major from St. Charles, Ill., was selected as a 2012 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference athlete, according to a release from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Shone, a St. Charles East High School graduate, played soccer for the Warhawks during the fall season. He is the son of Jim and JoAnne Shone of St. Charles, according to the Warhawks website.

“Being named WIAC All-Conference is special because not only do these individuals have great athletic skill, but they also need to stay healthy throughout the season, have a strong sense of teamwork and be suited to handle the pressure of being good,” UW-Whitewater athletic director Paul Plinske said in the release.

UW-Whitewater is well-known for producing championship athletes.

“The honor of being named WIAC All-Conference doesn't come lightly. It's earned through lots of preparation and hard work. In our history, we have thousands of All-Conference performers from UW-Whitewater and they all do a great job of representing all that is good about Warhawk athletics,” Plinske said in the release.
