St. Charles ... Get Involved with Your Community

The St. Charles Park Foundation has immediate openings on its board of trustees.

The St. Charles Park Foundation has immediate openings on its board of trustees. The Foundation has been created and designed to receive funds, real and personal property for charitable, scientific or educational purposes for the betterment of the Greater St. Charles area. It is a local, independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization authorized to accept tax-deductible gifts.

Foundation trustees raise funds at selected events to support specific ongoing Park District initiatives and programs. All year long, donations are accepted to benefit the District’s Financial Aid Program that assists economically disadvantaged youth and families residing within the District’s boundaries. At any time, the Memorial Tree Program offers a wonderful way to honor a loved one, mark an anniversary or special occasion and/or recognize an event or significant achievement by placing a tree in one of St. Charles parks.

In September each year, the Portraits in the Park event offers an opportunity for individuals or families to have a professional portrait taken in a beautiful fall setting as an heirloom to be cherished forever. The Primrose Farm Frolic is an annual fall event to support the continued development of the historic 1930s farmstead. The Foundation began an Animal Sponsorship Program to help offset the cost of caring and feeding livestock, foster community involvement in Primrose Farm operations, and further the educational mission of Primrose Farm through its livestock program.

Throughout the holidays, pewter ornaments portraying the historic pavilion in Pottawatomie are sold to benefit the teen programs at the STC Underground Teen Center.

A Foundation Trustee is one of twelve individuals who volunteer their time to make a difference on issues related to parks and open spaces in St. Charles. Trustees provide direction, motivation and guidance. They may also be called upon to initiate and carry out fundraising campaigns. The Foundation needs people with ideas, enthusiasm and commitment to the community.

Trustees attend monthly business meetings, currently held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, and participate in special advisory committees on an as-needed basis.

Nominations must be submitted in order to be considered.  Letters of interest should be sent to St. Charles Park Foundation, 101 South Second Street, St. Charles, IL 60174.  For more information, please contact Erika Young at 630-513-4319 or eyoung@stcparks.org.
