The Board of Commissioners for the St. Charles Park District is seeking individuals interested in serving an unexpired term on the Park Board.

The Board of Commissioners for the St. Charles Park District is seeking individuals interested in serving an unexpired term on the Park Board. Interested individuals should submit a statement of interest and resume to:

The Park Board of Commissioners

The primary role of the Board is to provide oversight and governance. The Board establishes policy under which the professional staff operates the district.

Park Board Member Qualifications

  • Park Board candidates must be at least 18 years old and reside within the boundaries of the park district for at least one year to qualify for office; and must continue their residency during their time in office.
  • Candidates must be registered voters within the park district.
  • A person is not eligible to serve on the Park Board if he or she is in arrears in payment of a tax or other indebtedness due the park district or has been convicted of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury or other felony.

Park Board Member Duties and Expectations

  • Attend all board meetings and board functions.  Regular Board meetings are held twice monthly on the second and fourth Tuesdays.
  • Serve as the board liaison to community and professional committees and organizations as assigned by the Board President.
  • Be versed in the park district’s mission services, polices and programs.
  • Adhere to conflict of interest, ethics and confidentiality policies
  • Uphold the rules and regulations of the park district and the laws of the state of Illinois.
  • The desired candidate is expected to run for the Office of Park Commissioner in the April 9, 2013 election.

 Compensation

  • Park Board members are not compensated and as individuals are prohibited by law from incurring debt on behalf of the District.
