2 St. Charles Country Clubs Coming Under New Management

The Royal Golf Group, owner of The Royal Fox, and The Royal Hawk clubs in St. Charles hires Sequoia Golf Group to manage all four of its Chicago-area country clubs.

The Chicago-based owner of two country clubs in St. Charles has hired an Atlanta firm to manage all four of its Chicago-area golf clubs.

Sequoia Golf Group announced Tuesday that is has been chosen to manage Royal Golf Group’s four county clubs in St. Charles, Long Grove and Winfield.

The selection of Sequoia Golf Group marks the conclusion of a two-year search by Royal Golf Group to find a management firm to run , and , both in St. Charles, as well as The Grove County Club, Long Grove, and Klein Creek Golf Club, Winfield.

“We look forward to working closely with Sequoia to further develop our network of courses,” Royal Golf Group owner John Weiss said in a press release issued Tuesday by Sequoia. “After two years of research we chose Sequoia based on our shared philosophy on how to manage private clubs, their strong national presence and their dynamic management experience.  We are proud to be affiliated with one of the highest caliber, most respected companies in the golf industry today, and together Sequoia and Royal Golf Group are committed to growing the game of golf.”

Sequoia Golf Group’s press release states that its new partnership with Royal Golf Group positions the Atlanta company as a national leader in golf course management. Sequoia said it intends “to build upon The Royal Golf Group’s success and leverage its existing infrastructure for future expansion.”

That will include developing a long-term plan to improve conditions at the golf courses.

Sequoia also said Royal Golf Group members will gain access to more than 450 clubs across the nation through Sequoia’s PlayAway program.

“We are particularly excited about joining forces with The Royal Golf Group to support their clubs and work together to grow the game of golf in the Chicago area,” stated Joe Guerra, president and CEO of Sequoia Golf.  “We see this partnership as an opportunity to extend the Sequoia network of membership benefits to a whole new market of golf enthusiasts.  We look forward to working with The Royal Clubs to develop their courses into premiere golfing destinations.”

Designed by Richard Nugent and built in 1989, , is a 6,816-yard par 71 golf course and has a newly remodeled clubhouse. In addition, it has hosted seven Illinois PGA Open Championships. 

, is a par 72 championship course developed on on 180 acres. The Royal Hawk’s recently constructed clubhouse was modeled after Mount Vernon, the historic presidential estate, and includes panoramic views of the Fox River Valley.

The Grove Country Club opened to members in 1964 and has a challenging layout with thousands of mature trees, and offers exclusive dining, swimming and tennis accommodations. 

Klein Creek Golf Club is a unique 18-hole championship-level course featuring 6,700 yards of rolling greens available to the public.
