Cooler Temps Draw More Cars, Larger Crowd to Cruise Nite

It must have been the cool weather on Tuesday night that drew this season’s bumper crop — pardon the pun — of vintage, modern and muscle cars to First Street in St. Charles for Cruise Nite.

It’s not that the first couple of Cruise Nites weren’t busy — there have been plenty of cars lining both sides of 1st Street, between Illinois and Main streets, each Tuesday since the weekly summer vehicle shows returned earlier this month.

But instead of temperatures in the 80s and 90s, this week’s Cruise Nite was a very comfortable 70 degrees, drawing more cars and, apparently, more people to come and look.

This week, there were so many vehicles, they began filling the temporary parking lot the city built between 1st Street and the Fox River, which became another part of the display area.
