Hey St. Charles: Are You Ready for the Fourth of July?

This is your one-stop shop for information local Independence Day activities — including some about what to expect if you’re going to be on the road, and where to go to see fireworks if your in another suburban town for the annual holiday.


The St. Charles Park District is planning activities beginning at 8 a.m., with opportunities to swim, picnic, listen and dance to music, play miniature golf or to stroll around one of St. Charles’s finest parks. Concessions also will be offered at River View Miniature Golf Concessions at Pottawatomie Park.

From 4 to 5:30 p.m., the Fox Valley Concert Band will perform in the park’s amphitheatre. Then, from 6 p.m. to dark, the Red Woody Concert Band will perform at the Historic Pavilion.


Fireworks begin at dark and are best viewed at Pottawatomie Park on the East Side, and at Ferson Creek Park, which is off Route 31 on the West Side. In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be scheduled for the next clear evening.

Police Will Be Out In Force:



Parking Restrictions:


The Park District urges folks to come early, since parking is limited. In the past, the district has urged residents to park downtown and walk up the Riverwalk to Pottawatomie Park. The St. Charles Police Department this week announced parking restrictions for the holiday:

Some fireworks you might think are legal may not longer be, under a new law in effect this year.
