Were Your Kids Among the Dancers at St. Charles' Lincoln Park?

How Far to Austin delights young and old during Concert in the Park.

If you happened to stop by Lincoln Park on Thursday night, you might have noticed the crowds first, unless of course you arrived after How Far to Austin began to perform. Then, no doubt, the first thing you’d have noticed was the music.

But if you did make it to Lincoln Park and didn’t notice the kids, you weren’t paying attention.

While How Far to Austin commanded the stage with its brand of rock during the St. Charles Park District’s free Concert in the Park on Thursday, the children in attendance dominated the dance scene, crowding in front of the gazebo, where they were jumping up and down, moving their feet and spinning round and round like whirling dervishes.

On Thursday, the kids were every bit as entertaining as How Far to Austin, whose lively performance featured hot guitar riffs, keyboard rhythms and soulful vocals.

Concerts in the Park are held at the Lincoln Park Gazebo at 7 p.m. Thursdays.
