St. Charles Softball Players Raising Funds for Animal Shelter

Fill the Truck Donation Drive takes place Saturday at Langum Park.

The St. Charles Girls Softball League Photo Day will feature an added component this year –a Fill the Truck Donation Drive.

The league is raising funds for the Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin.

Mary Ann Campagna, the league director, said the concept of a donation drive would "facilitate a sense of community amongst the girls instead of focusing completely on competition."

"I really wanted to show the girls what 400 young women can do when they work together," Campagna said.

The St. Charles Girls’ Softball League Fill the Truck Donation Drive will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Langum Park in St. Charles.

The league consists of around 420 young women ranging from kindergarten to high school ages. A majority of the girls are in first-grade through eighth-grade.
