City of St. Charles Municipal Center

Built in 1940, the St. Charles Municipal Center is the hub of local government for the city. The building sits in the heart of downtown St. Charles along the east bank of the Fox River just a few steps from the Main Street bridge. Its Art Deco facade and clocktower casts a dramatic dynamic against the modern downtown.
This building house the Mayor's office, City Administrator's office and a number of city departments. It is open to the public during the day. City Council meeting are held here, as are several other public meetings.

Actually, Nick, the St. Charles Municipal Center is technically Art Moderne, not Art Deco. I prepared the National Register of Historic Places application as a gift to the city for its 50th Anniversary in 1990.
