Any additional experience that qualify's you for the position: As production manager at Pettibone Mulligan, I supervised over 200 unionized production employees. I was able to increase productivity by applying simple Industrial Engineering principles. As Officer in Charge of Operations and Logistics in the Air Force Reserves, I was awarded a medal for reducing the yearly inventory costs $1.8 million
What would your priorities be if elected to this office?
1. Don't spend $12.6 million on a computer program that we can get from a similar size county for $0.00.
Don't make any expenditure that has no payback in a reasonable time frame to the taxpayers.
2. Improve the working conditions, moral, and efficiency for all in the office. Run the offices like the business it is.
3. Bring integrity to the office.
What sets you apart from the other candidates?
I'm a businessman who has experience running similar offices in production environments and hazardous environments. I've had to balance budgets and cut costs. My opponent is a lawyer who pulled $100,000 out of his pocket to run this campaign. If you're a Republican you know that he ran a hard campaign against his Republican candidates in the primary.
What can the county do to promote job growth and draw new business to Kane County?
That is not part of the office of clerk of the Circuit Court in Kane County. I have brought a couple of hundred jobs here in my business career. I would be glad to chair that committee to bring jobs to Kane County after I'm elected if needed. Right now if I get elected I will not outsource $12.6 mllion worth of computer programs to Colorado like my opponents party is in favor of doing.
What more would you do to practice fiscal responsibility?
First, don't spend the $12.6 million on a computer program bought from an outside company. We can get the program from DuPage County that will cost us $0.00, and it works! Second, don't spend $40 million on a building consolidation which is unnecessary if we put the employee safety system in place and we have a professional manager run the office. Cooperation, not confrontation, is what is needed.
In what ways can the county operate more efficiently and improve technologically?
First we need to realize the clerk of the Circuit Court in Kane County is not alone in the state. There are many clerks of the Circuit Court offices. There are many with the same size. That defines the size of the fines and fees. Ours and several others have populations in between 500,000 and 2 million.
If we look at a company with many divisions that use the same set of operating rules we should be able to cooperate in developing better quality programs. In business we take the best platform (program base ) and get a committee composed of the expert from each division and have them improve the systems.
The clerk of the Circuit Court in Du Page County has the best computer system developed on government time by government employees. They are willing to give it to us. It will run on our computer. If we take our five computer programmers and their five programmers and the other four counties' five programmers and put all them to solve a problem affecting the court system, we could solve the problem faster. Oh, and did I tell you that would save the taxpayers of Kane County $12.6 million? If we don't start running the clerk's office like a business, the taxpayers will pay that plus over $40 million for a new building. Neither is needed!
