Which St. Charles Restaurant Has the Best Sushi?

Leave a comment to vote for your favorite in this week's Best of St. Charles contest.

Sushi is not everyones' cup of tea but it can be a treat for those who have acquired the taste. St. Charles has a few offerings for this rice, seaweed and seafood delicacy. I want to open it up to St. Charles Patch readers to vote on their favorite. I happen to be a fan of several sushi restaurants, both in St. Charles and nearby, but I won't let my personal preferences sway the voting. Leave a comment with the name of the St. Charles restaurant you prefer. Consult the following list if it helps you decide.  As usual with a Best of St. Charles contest, this will run for about a week. I'll tally up the comments and whichever place has the most votes wins. There's no prize for winning this reader poll but St. Charles Patch will feature the …

Steak Connoisseurs Pick St. Charles Place

The St. Charles restaurant was selected by St. Charles Patch readers.

The carnivores have spoken. Their pick for the best steak in St. Charles is: St. Charles Place.  A quick walk through the menu reveals why this St. Charles restaurant, which “brings back the times of the classic supper club,” is a meat-eaters paradise. The top special (labeled “Divine!” on the website menu) is the Steak Au Poivre—black pepper encrusted Filet Mignon medallions or Manhattan cut strip steak that’s finished in a cognac sauce. And don’t forget about the restaurant’s famous steak burgers. St. Charles Place grinds it own tenderloin steak into half-pound burgers. "Thank you to all our patrons for letting us survive for 18 years," said Thomas Niforatos of St. Charles Place. "And we will see you all again soon for what I agree is …

Best Breakfast Winner: Copper Fox Café

St. Charles Patch readers picked their favorite.

St. Charles Patch readers have spoken. Their top choice for “Best Breakfast” in St. Charles is the Copper Fox Café. Copper Fox’s location, 305 W. Main St., is in the city’s historic district, inside a remodeled building constructed in the early 1900s. A relatively new addition to downtown St. Charles, the café features eggs, crepes and pancakes on its breakfast menu. Many other items are available; check out the full menus. This family-owned business also was featured as part of the Mystery Diner series for the Kane County Chronicle. You can find the link to the article on the Copper Fox's homepage. But don't just take our word for it. Watch a video with chef and owner Dimitri Lolis explaining what the Copper Fox is all about.

Who Has the Best Steak in St. Charles?

After a brief hiatus, the Best of St. Charles series is back.

This week, we have a question about a deceptively simple staple of dining: the steak. Vegetarians need not apply. We want to know who has the best steak in St. Charles. Whether you prefer a thick, juicy porterhouse or a grilled-to-perfection fillet, you can vote for your favorite here. As usual, pick your favorite (whether it's the list provided or is a place you know) and leave a comment on this story. Your comment is your vote. Remember: Only vote per reader. Follow St. Charles Patch on Facebook! Bistro One West: The grilled Waygu steak (Waygu or Wagyu is known for its excellent marbling and good quality) comes with avocado butter and fingerling home fries. Al Capone’s Hideaway and Steakhouse: It says it right in the name. This landmark …

Patch Readers Pick: The Thirsty Fox Pub for 'Best Burger'

Patch's "Best Of St. Charles" series will offer readers the chance to vote on some of their favorites in the city.

In St. Charles Patch’s first-ever “Best of St. Charles” series, I’ve received so much positive feedback in the comments, Facebook posts and Tweets. I can’t thank you all enough for the response. But, on to the good stuff—and that would be the result of the “Best Burger” contest. I think a little disclaimer might be in order before we begin. This simply was an unscientific comment poll (as they all will be in the "Best of St. Charles" run) and doesn’t reflect any particular endorsement on the part of St. Charles Patch or me. I’ve had a meal in just about every restaurant, establishment and watering hole in St. Charles and I can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed. I love the food in this city. It seems that a few of our readers, …
