Coffee lovers from Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles are among the target audience for CoffeeCON 2013, a celebration of all things coffee that takes place May 4 in Warrenville. The event was held for the first time last year and was the brainchild of Kevin Sinnott, a Warrenville resident and coffee authority, who has written extensively on the beverage. Held in Warrenville at the IBEW building, the conference is geared to the consumer and last year drew about 1,200 people, including large number of residents from the surrounding area, including Naperville, Wheaton, Geneva, St. Charles and Lisle. The central business district saw 17 new businesses arrive, interior and exterior improvements, and awards.
In 2012, downtown St. Charles had over 17 new businesses open their doors, several others make significant exterior and interior improvements, and others recognized for excellence. Efforts are continuous to bring people downtown more frequently to experience the extensive offerings of dining, shopping, recreation, and entertainment.
