Marklund's Mill Creek Campus Gets 'Standers'
Thanks to a Community Foundation grant, Marklund's Mill Creek campus is able to purchase devices that help people get to a standing position.
Marklund, a not-for-profit organization specializing in the care of children and adults with profound disabilities, received an $8,330 grant from the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley to purchase therapeutic standers for its Mill Creek Campus in Geneva. A therapeutic stander is a piece of equipment that starts in a seated position. It supports an individual's knees, hips, and sides and has the capability of safely raising the individual into a standing position. This equipment creates a standing opportunity for any individual who can bear weight and provides optimal orthopedic alignment. Standers are used on a daily basis at Marklund.
