UPDATE: Firefighter Died of Attack From Her Own Dog

Dawn Brown was home alone at the time of the attack. Here are more details.

Editor's note: This story was updated Wednesday evening to include more information about why the Browns took in the dog. A 44-year-old firefighter from western Kane County died as a result of wounds sustained from a dog attack in her home, according to police. Dawn Brown was found dead Monday inside her home, located on the 400 block of Jefferson Street in Big Rock. The Kane County Coroner completed an autopsy and determined that Brown died of attack wounds from a mastiff, one of three dogs that she and her husband own. The Browns got the mastiff about a week ago from a family member, said Lt. Pat Gengler, Kane County Sheriff's Office spokesman. The dog does not have a history of aggression. Circus Worker’s Death Ruled Drug-Related

North Carolina man had cocaine, heroin and alcohol in his system when he died, according to toxicology test results.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office has ruled that a North Carolina man who died Aug. 18 while working for a circus performing at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles died as a result of multiple drug use. The official cause of death was listed as polypharmacy/accidental, and reflects that the death of Casey Dale Walker, 22, of Etowah, N.C., was an accidental death induced by the use of multiple drugs. The St. Charles Police Department, in a release, said that a toxicology report from the Illinois Crime Laboratory showed high traces of cocaine, heroin and alcohol in Walker’s system. St. Charles Police Investigate Death of Circus Worker

The Kane County Coroner's Office finds no discernible cause of death of the 22-year-old.

St. Charles police and the Kane County Coroner’s Office await toxicology test results as they investigate the death of a circus worker early Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. Authorities said St. Charles police and fire personnel were called to the fairgrounds at 3:50 a.m. After the man’s roommates found him slumped over the dresser in the bedroom of his trailer. The first officer arrived after his roommates had carried him outside and began CPR. Police identified the dead man as Casey Dale Walker, of the 400 block of Masterview Drive, Etowah, N.C.
