Adam Zbrozek, principal of Richmond Intermediate School, to helm middle school in home district.
Adam Zbrozek, principal of Richmond Intermediate School, is leaving St. Charles Consolidated Unit School District 303 to assume the position of principal at Yorkville Middle School in Yorkville District 115. Zbrozek, a Yorkville resident, has served in administrative roles in District 303 for seven years, including assistant principal of Haines Middle School and principal of Lincoln School. According to a District 115 press release Zbrozek has spearheaded the development of a dual language program in his current position at Richmond Intermediate School, which features Spanish and French, as well as implementing a one to one technology program utilizing iPads for all students. The fourth session of Summit 303, a series of community meetings put on by the St. Charles school district, will focus on the "high school experience,' officials say. The upcoming meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Kane County Fairgrounds Event Center. All meetings for the summit will be held at the Fairgrounds. All District 303 residents are invited to join. The St. Charles North High School Varsity Drill Team earned their 13th State Dance title this past Sunday, March 4th as they competed at the Team Dance Illinois State Championships that were held at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria. The team competed against many of the best dance teams in the state of Illinois. They added another state title to their already impressive 12 state dance championships. The North Stars gave a stunning performance in winning the state title in the Lyrical Division. Diana Tennant of Haines Middle School and students created 80 fleece blankets for cancer patients in DeKalb.
A St. Charles middle school teacher and her students who made dozens of fleece blankets for those battling cancer still have more work ahead of them. Deanna Tennant, a family consumer science teacher at Haines Middle School started the “Wrapped in Love." The effort was in memory of William C. Meyer, a Sycamore man and long-time family friend of Tennant's who died in April of lung cancer. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy patients at The Cancer Center at Kishwakuee Community Hospital in DeKalb are benefiting from the gift. Eighty blankets were delivered to the cancer center on Valentine’s Day by Meyer’s wife, Anne, his son, Bill, along with Tennant. The money, intended for capital improvements, is part of $623 million going to districts across Illinois.
District 303 will receive more than $7.6 million in state funding for capital improvements, state officials announced Thursday. The money for the St. Charles school district is part of more than $623 million in projects announced by Gov. Pat Quinn. Thirty-one school district across the state will receive the state money. “This funding relives pressure on property tax payers by reimbursing construction cost for school facilities,” said State Sen. Chris Lauzen (R-Aurora) in a statement for the media. “It is important that our schools are safe, secure and well maintained for students and educators. The St. Charles team won their most recent honor on Feb. 12.
The St. Charles North Junior Varsity Drill Team brought home their 13th consecutive state title this week. The team grabbed top honors on Feb. 12 at the Team Dance Illinois State Finals at Argo High School in Summit. They were coached by Colleen Kobler. North JV team won the Open-Pom and Lyrical categories.

Summit 303 will soon tackle discussion of the St. Charles school district's changing population of incoming classes and how it will affect the elementary schools. The next meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Kane County Fairgrounds Event Center. This will be the second in the series resident-led meetings meant to address the challenges facing District 303. Julie Feldsien and Scott Nowling, a former St. Charles school board president, are leading the summit. Everyone in the District 303 community is invited to attend the meetings.
