A 16-year-old from unincorporated St. Charles received two citations Monday after a three-car crash near South Elgin, police said. The boy and two other drivers were all sent to different hospitals with injuries following the crash, which occurred at the intersection of McDonald and Stevens roads in unincorporated Elgin. Kane County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, according to a press release. The boy was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His car collided with the crossover SUV of a 55-year-old woman from unincorporated Hampshire. Update: A 16-year-old was cited twice in connection to this crash. A three-vehicle crash with injuries shut down an intersection near South Elgin Monday afternoon, police said. The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of McDonald Road and Stevens Road in unincorporated Elgin Township, said Pat Gengler, Kane County Sheriff's Office spokesman. The intersection of McDonald and Stevens roads was closed in all directions while investigators processed the scene—please avoid the area if possible. All three vehicles were occupied only by their drivers. All three drivers were transported to area hospitals. Further details on the crash were not immediately available.
