Fire Damages Deck, House Siding in Batavia

The fire occurred Friday afternoon. Damage is estimated at $10,000.

A fire damaged a deck and part of a home on Batavia's east side Friday afternoon, fire officials said. The fire occurred on the 1300 block of Hall Court. The Batavia Fire Department was dispatched to the incident at 4:30 p.m., according to a press release. Fire crews found a small deck fire that was threatening to damage the house. Neighbors used a garden hose on the house to prevent the fire from extending into the home. The fire department used hose lines to extinguish the blaze and confirmed that it did not actually enter the house. The fire was reported under control at 4:45 p.m. Friday. Firefighters Battle Garage Blaze Sunday Morning

Damage to garage estimated at $10,000.

St. Charles firefighters battled a garage fire at 314 Illinois Street early Sunday morning. Following a 911 call by a neighbor, firefighters arrived at the scene at 3:57 a.m. and had the blaze under control within 10 minutes, according to data released by the fire department. Damage to the garage is estimated at $10,000. The cuase of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation, however officials do not conisder the circumstances suspicious.

St. Charles Fire Officials Investigating Cause of Gas Line Fire

St. Charles Fire Department officials are working with NICOR to determine what caused a one-inch gas line to become impaired and catch fire near the intersection of Peck Road and Woodward Drive Thursday morning.

Fire department officials are investigating what caused an exposed one-inch gas line to catch fire Thursday morning. Representatives from NICOR were called and have shut down the leak, according to a St. Charles Fire Department officials. No one was injured during the incident. Report: Black's Auto Rebuilders Says Fire Might Have Been Arson

The owner of Black's Auto Rebuilders says he believes the Wednesday-morning fire might have been set off by an explosive device pushed through the body shop's drop box.

Geneva Fire Department officials said in their initial investigation that they did not find anything suspicious in the Wednesday, Dec. 7, fire at Black's Auto Rebuilders. But the owner of the body shop says he thinks the fire might have been caused by an explosive device pushed through the drop box where customers leave their keys. Bob Black told the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory that he was doing some bookkeeping in the early morning hours when he heard a "bang like a gunshot blast" before the fire started. Firefighters responded at 5:14 a.m. to the fire at Black's, located at 802 E. State St., about a block from the fire station. UPDATE: Fire Does $500,000 in Damage to Home

No one was injured in the Oct. 20 fire.

A Thursday night fire at an unincorporated Campton Hills house remains under investigation Friday, according to one official.  No one was injured, said Greg Benson, chief of the Fox River & Countryside Fire District. The fire did an estimated $500,000 in damage to the house and property inside. At about 6:30 p.m., firefighters were called to the 5N000 block of Prairie Lake Boulevard, which is in an unincorporated area between St. Charles and Campton Hills. Crews from Fox River district and and six other departments battled the fire, which was concentrated in  empty attic spaces, Benson said. UPDATE: No One Injured, But Woodworking Cabinet Business Badly Damaged in Saturday's Edison Street Fire

No estimate yet on damage to Ray Construction, but firefighters are able to keep fire from spreading to adjoining business, nearby apartments.

No one was injured in the Saturday afternoon fire at Riverbank Custom Cabinets and Laminates, Inc., 527 Edison St., but officials said the business sustained extensive damage. Geneva Fire Department Assistant Chief Jerry Koster said Monday the blaze likely was an electrical fire. The U.S. Fire Administration says most electrical distribution fires result from problems with "fixed wiring" such as faulty electrical outlets and old wiring.  The call went out at about 3:28 p.m. Saturday. No one was injured, and the building was vacant at the time. Fire in Basement of Landmark Campana Building; No One Hurt and Fire Is Out

Geneva and Batavia fire departments respond to a call regarding a fire in the basement of the Campana Building at Route 31 and Fabyan Parkway. All is well.

Firefighters from Batavia and Geneva responded to the report of a fire at the landmark Campana Building, 901 N. Batavia Ave., Batavia, at around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, and by 12 p.m., the fire was out and all was well. Batavia Fire Chief Rudy Deicke said smoke was coming from one of the transformers in the basement of the building. Firefighters used hoses to extinguish the fire, and water could be seen in the parking lot in the aftermath. No one was hurt, and the fire did not spread to any other floors. The St. Peter Barn Sale had used—and may still be using—the facility for collection and storage of Barn Sale items. Extra-Alarm Fire Burns West Chicago Apartment Complex (REPORTS)

Units from St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia responded to the fire, reports state.

An early-morning fire Monday burned a three-story building at the Aspen Ridge Apartments in West Chicago. Units from Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles were among those departments that had responded to the call, according to reports. The fire was at least a five-alarm call. Up to 130 people were displaced from there apartments, according to a Chicago Tribune article. It took 150 firefighters from multiple departments to contain the blaze that reportedly broke out at about 2:20 a.m. Early reports indicated that several people were trapped on the upper floors. No one was reported injured, according to a Chicago Sun-Times article.

Early Morning Fire Burns Fox Mill Home

No one was injured, according to unofficial reports.

A house in the 3N000 block of Herman Melville Lane in Campton Hills caught fire around 6 a.m. Saturday. No one was reported injured, according to eye witnesses. A message left with Fox River and Countryside Fire/Rescue District was not immediately returned. The owners reportedly were out of town at the time the fire started. The house is located in the Fox Mill subdivision, which is west of the St. Charles city border. Units from the fire district had responded to the call.

The problem is the administration. They chose to use a FOR PROFIT model to build a public service. This has failed numerous times in other states, check out Scottsdale AZ as one example. Safety of the citizens and the employees will take a back seat EVERY time. Management costs will rise to the point that they could have built facilities and kept STCFD as their staffing.
