By Charles Menchaca Police are in search of two men who forced their way into a North Aurora duplex Friday afternoon, held the residents at gunpoint and shot a dog three times. The home invasion occurred at a duplex in the 200 block of Laurel Drive on the village's east side, according to a police statement. North Aurora police officers were dispatched to the block at about 1:21 p.m. for a dog that had been shot. "Upon arrival, officers discovered that a home invasion had taken place," the statement said. "Officers learned that the residents heard a knock at the door and, before they could open the door, the suspects kicked the door open and displayed a gun." A 7-Eleven store in North Aurora was robbed Thursday morning, according to police. The robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven on 718 Butterfield Road. This is in the plaza on the southwest corner of Butterfield and Hart/Mitchell roads. North Aurora patrol officers were dispatched to the scene at 5:35 a.m., according to a police statement released Friday afternoon. "Upon arrival, officers learned that at approximately 5:15 a.m., a male wearing a mask entered the store and pointed a small black gun at (a store clerk)," the statement said. A teen faces charges in connection to a hidden camera found in his neighbors' bedroom, North Aurora police announced Wednesday. The teen is 16 years old, male and lives in the 1100 block of Oak Crest Drive in North Aurora, according to police. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against the juvenile suspect: The charges are Class A misdemeanors. The suspect is being prosecuted as a juvenile, so his name will not be released, a North Aurora police statement said. Police presented their case to the State's Attorney's Office after they completed their investigation into the incident, which was first reported on Nov. 17, 2012. A 35-year-old man faces aggravated DUI and reckless driving charges in connection to Sunday's serious car crash on Route 25, police said. Victor M. Alvarez, of the 1400 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, Aurora, was driving northbound in a silver Nissan Murano crossover sport-utility vehicle that ran off the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to a North Aurora police statement. Police responded at 2:11 p.m. Sunday to the crash scene, located about 100 ft. north of Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers found the Murano with heavy passenger side damage. A 7-Eleven store in North Aurora was robbed Monday morning, according to police. The robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven on 2 S. Lincolnway, located at the southwest corner of Lincolnway (Route 31) and State Street (Route 56). North Aurora patrol officers were dispatched to the scene at 9:57 a.m., according to a police statement released this afternoon. "Upon arrival, officers learned that at approximately 9:40 a.m. a female store employee was robbed outside of the store as she was transporting store money to the bank," the statement said. The two people shot during Tuesday's home invasion in North Aurora survived, police said. A 22-year-old man was shot in the arm and another man, 23, was shot in the chest, according to a North Aurora Police Department press release. Officers were dispatched at 7:05 a.m. to an apartment building in the 100 block of South River Road (Rt. 25 south of Batavia) for the shooting. Officers discovered that the shooting took place in one of the apartments and that there were two men with gunshot wounds. The men were conscious and able to exit the building on their own. Two people were shot during a home invasion on the 100 block of South River Road—Route 25, one block south of Butterfield Road near the Fox River—sometime before 8 a.m., according to an alert message from North Aurora police. Condition reports on the people shot were not immediately available. The suspects are described as two Hispanic men, each about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 to 170 pounds.
