Welcome to Tri-Cities Talk—a regular feature in which we ask our Facebook fans to share their views on current issues facing Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles. Every week, we get the conversation started by taking a look back at a question we asked the Tri-Cities community in recent days on local Patch Facebook pages. This week's election saw the reelection of two longtime Tri-Cities mayors. Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns won his fourth term, and Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke was reelected after more than 30 years in office. Unfortunately the majority of our society is mind numbingly complacent and ignorant...until you make them mad! Alderman Rogina: Plan Endorsement Premature

Second mayoral candidate sounds off on draft 2013 Comprehensive Plan, says process should continue.

Third Ward Alderman Raymond Rogina, who will face John Rabchuk and Jotham Stein in the spring St. Charles mayoral race, said Saturday it is premature to comment on the draft 2013 Comprehensive Plan, which has not been completed yet. Rabchuk on Friday endorsed what he called the “responsible growth strategy” in the draft 2013 Comprehensive Plan, which sparked criticism from some residents. The plan has proven a sensitive issue in the community, because the plan is intended to serve as a guide for development over the next 20 years. “As a member of the City Planning and Development Committee and City Council, I commend Chairman (Mark) Armstrong and his committee and Rita Tungare and city staff for bringing a draft of the 2013 Comprehensive …

Mr Rabchuck appears eager to get his hands on St Charles, with his vision, not ours. To be fair, there needs be a balance of community, representative and expert input. On the same note of fairness, for Mr. Rabchuk to "endorse" a plan, from his own committee, on which he serves as Vice Chair, seems at best, redundant.
